What a way to start the day! On Thursday a group of lucky children from Lawdale Primary in London were invited to Wahaca, Oxford Circus to learn all about Mexican cooking, and the next day it was the turn of pupils from Oasis Academy Johanna and Henry Fawcett Primary School who met up at Wahaca in Waterloo.

The staff had gone to a lot of trouble at both restaurants, producing fabulous Magic Breakfast activity mats and arranging for chefs to give the children an amazing hands-on lesson on what goes into their delicious Mexican-style street food. The children had a go at making guacamole with a giant pestle and mortar and learnt about the key ingredients used in traditional Mexican cuisine. Lots of the children were able to try foods and flavours they’d never had before. Quesadillas for breakfast got a big thumbs up!

Thank you so much to Wahaca for making everyone so welcome and to its co-founder, Thomasina Miers, for her fantastic support.
