We had the most wonderful day with actor, Kellie Bright, who visited our partner school St Luke’s in Hertfordshire.
Kellie saw first-hand the difference Magic Breakfast makes to the pupils at St Luke’s. Not only do the children and young people enjoy the nutritious breakfast but they use Magic Breakfast as an opportunity to develop social skills and take important steps towards independent learning.
I met some fantastic young people at St Luke’s. What they do here is, they try to organise their classroom into almost like a cafe setting. So, they’re taking tiny steps towards gaining independence. We got to see one of the children taking the orders from all the other children and we got to see another child preparing and delivering the breakfasts.
I got to chat to some of the children about their preferred foods and it’s obviously something that brings the class together. It was a really fantastic environment, and I can so see the value of it.”

The cafe style they use each morning is part of their daily routine and really sets them up for the day ahead. Their morning cafe allows the children and young people to fill their tummies and encourages them to communicate and practise skills that will help them in the future. Taking orders, cleaning up and chatting really shows that our provision is so much more than just food.
A big thank you to Kellie for coming along and supporting us, and of course to St Luke’s for having us.
