We were incredibly grateful to have Jamie Rhodes, Associate Assistant Headteacher at Lawnswood School, join us for our Magic Morning webinar.

During the presentation, Jamie highlighted the profound impact of Magic Breakfast on students experiencing food insecurity. Lawnswood School in Leeds, faces significant challenges, including high numbers of students eligible for free school meals, pupils with English as an additional language, and those travelling long distances.

Jamie shared with us the impact that Magic Breakfast has had, not only as a nutritious start to the day, but also through offering opportunities to build community, improve behaviour, and increase engagement.

Lots of pupils are coming from home settings where breakfast is just not eaten. We know that we have kids walking through those doors each and every morning who have not eaten that morning and quite possibly haven’t eaten since they had the free school meals the previous lunchtime. So some of those pupils we see coming to breakfast club at half past seven in the morning, that’s the first time they’ve eaten in 18 hours.”
