At Magic Breakfast, we know that breakfast is more than just a meal.

The magic is what happens beyond the food. It’s the sense of calm when a child walks through the school doors and is greeted by name. It’s the laughter over toast, the quiet chats with trusted adults, the chance to play, settle, and belong.

Nourishing Futures, our strategy for 2040, outlines our evolving role as the benefits of school breakfasts become widely recognised, and the journey we are on to see a UK where every child is nourished, empowered, and thriving.

Our Chief Executive, Lindsey MacDonald, discussed the full scale of Magic Breakfast’s impact, and our new strategy, in the latest episode of The Purposeful Strategist podcast.

It’s not just the children who attend breakfast club that benefit. It actually has a positive impact on every child in that school.

The ripple effect of children not acting out, the physical manifestations of hunger – whether that’s tiredness, frustration, or confusion. If they’re not addressed, they get taken into a classroom.

We may have 60-80% of pupils in Magic Breakfast partner school accessing breakfast, but 100% of children and young people in that school will benefit.
