Following the employee vote in February 2022, The Barratt Foundation donated £100,000 to Magic Breakfast. In September of that year, over 100 colleagues from Barratt PLC headed to the Lake District to tackle the Big Barratt Hike and raised £65,000.

From October 2023, we were delighted to enter an official partnership, with Barratt Redrow’s support helping us in our mission to champion and provide nourishing breakfasts that help children and young people learn and thrive. As the partnership comes to an end, we spoke to Holly Mugnaioni, Foundation Partnerships Manager, and Andy Button-Stephens, Head of the Barratt Foundation, about highlights of the partnership!

Hi, could you tell us about Barratt Redrow Foundation and what your role is?

A: I’m Head of The Barratt Redrow Foundation, the charitable arm of Barratt Redrow – the UK’s largest housebuilder. My role is to ensure we make the biggest possible difference to people’s lives with the funds we have available. That’s only possible thanks to the generosity of the business and, most importantly, the incredible charities who deliver that change every single day.

H: Sure! I’m the Partnerships & Projects Manager for the Barratt Redrow Foundation. I look after all our brilliant charity partners, making sure our partnerships deliver real value – for both the charities and Barratt Redrow colleagues. I also lead on the Foundation’s comms, making sure we’re shouting loud and proud about the wonderful work we’re doing together.

What drew you to working with Magic Breakfast?

A: The partnership with Magic Breakfast began through a staff vote, reflecting a clear passion for the charity across the business. Extending it to three years was an easy decision – not just because it was well loved, but because their mission to end child morning hunger aligns perfectly with the Foundation’s goal of thriving communities. Magic Breakfast offers a powerful way to make a real, tangible difference in children’s lives. Their passion shines through everything they do, and we couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together.

H: Ensuring no child is too hungry to learn is such a simple yet powerful goal, and one our colleagues really connected with. Magic Breakfast delivers brilliant, impactful work, and once we saw the difference they were making, continuing the partnership was an easy yes!

You have raised and donated over £700,000 to Magic Breakfast, the equivalent of 2,640,854 nutritious, healthy breakfasts to children and young people in the UK! What has been a highlight of partnering with Magic Breakfast for the past three years?

A: That’s an easy one! In 2022, over 70 Barratt Redrow colleagues took on the Big Barratt Hike in support of Magic Breakfast and one other charity partner. From 20-mile treks to rowing challenges, colleagues came together to support an incredible mission – to end child morning hunger. We raised a total of £65,000- helping over 1,000 schools provide breakfasts to more than 200,000 children each day. It was a fantastic weekend, and one of my favourite memories from my time at Barratt Redrow.

H: I’ve only been at the Foundation for just over a year, but a real highlight was volunteering at a Magic Breakfast school during an Aspiration Day. The young people were full of energy and curiosity; we had some brilliant conversations. It really brought home how vital a full belly is for learning and development. Taking a step back and witnessing that impact first hand was incredibly powerful.

What would you say to other organisations looking to partner with Magic Breakfast?

A: Do it. Magic Breakfast is a passionate, professional team with a clear vision and proven impact. Their work is rooted in evidence and compassion, and they make it easy for partners to see the difference their support is making. It’s a partnership that delivers real social value.

H: Absolutely do it! If you’re looking for a partner that delivers clear, measurable impact, Magic Breakfast is a no-brainer. Their mission is powerful, their team is brilliant, and they make it easy to see the difference your funding can make. They also offer great opportunities for colleagues to engage meaningfully in their work. It’s been a rewarding partnership, and once I would recommend without hesitation.

Of course, we have to ask… what’s your favourite breakfast?

A: You can’t beat a classic full English especially on a weekend. But on busy mornings, porridge is my go to.

H: I’m glad you asked – breakfast is my favourite meal! At the weekend, I absolutely love to get a coffee and pastry (latte and a cinnamon bun is my go-to order). During the week I opt for yoghurt, berries and granola  – it never disappoints.
