Hunger hurts learning and leaves children unable to achieve their potential. For the first time in over a decade, the learning gap for Primary School students is widening. And with the cost of energy and food rising, now more than ever we need to level the playing field for every child.

Magic Breakfast has a powerful solution. Free school breakfast improves children’s attendance, learning and behaviour in the classroom. It creates an inclusive environment that boosts wellbeing. Ultimately, it boosts children’s lifelong economic contribution. In short, its about so much more than breakfast.

With the rising cost of living pushing more families into poverty, the scandal of child hunger is on the rise. 2.5 million children are at risk of starting the day too hungry to learn. Too many students from disadvantaged backgrounds are falling behind because their families are struggling to put food on the table.

Yet despite the best efforts of charities, only a minority of schools get the support they need to offer a free breakfast to pupils.

That’s why our Youth Campaigners, some of whom have benefited from free school meals and breakfast clubs themselves, are urging that Boris Johnson acts now to ensure no child is #TooHungryToLearn and keeps his promise to level up the UK.

Please join them and ensure that every child is given the chance to achieve their full potential, no matter their background.

Our letter to Boris Johnson is now closed.
