We are very proud of our founder, Carmel McConnell MBE, who received a new Inspiration Award at the Guild of Food Writers annual awards ceremony in London last night.

The Guild of Food Writers is the UK’s professional association of food writers and broadcasters and the Inspiration Award was voted on by the full Guild membership.

Carmel said she was overwhelmed by the support shown at the ceremony for the charity she founded 15 years ago: “I felt deeply honoured to win the inaugural Inspiration award at the Guild of Food Writers ceremony last night. It's on behalf of the amazing Magic Breakfast team and the 23,500 hungry children we reach every school day. If anyone can help build the national will to end hunger in UK classrooms I feel it's these fantastic food writers, bloggers and chefs!”

Carmel received a beautifully engraved glass trophy and prize of £500 which will be donated to Magic Breakfast to provide more than 2,200 healthy breakfasts to schoolchildren who would otherwise be too hungry to learn.
