Magic Breakfast and the Morgan Stanley International Foundation (MSIF) have been proud partners for over ten years. Since 2008, the MSIF has been a steadfast supporter of Magic Breakfast and together, we have delivered almost 350,000 breakfasts to vulnerable children.

More recently, since 2014, Magic Breakfast and the MSIF have collaborated on the award-winning Healthy Cities programme which was designed to bring together the fundamentals that a child needs to thrive – wellness, nutrition and play. Magic Breakfast has fulfilled the nutrition elements of the programme, ensuring children in Tower Hamlets and Glasgow have not gone hungry over the school holidays. Working with five primary schools in London and two in Glasgow, we have piloted a holiday breakfast club initiative to ensure children do not go without healthy and nutritious food, and a safe place to place during the school holidays. The MSIF even extended its support into 2021, to ensure that children did not miss out on crucial holiday breakfast packs during the pandemic. In the London schools alone, 150 children benefitted from the MSIF’s continued generosity.

Along with crucial support to fund Magic Breakfast’s work in schools, the MSIF has leveraged its employees’ skills and expertise to drive strategic change for the charity. In 2014, through the Strategy Challenge, employees from Morgan Stanley worked with us to create an expansion plan, and just last year in 2020, a group of employees came together through the company’s Skills Connector initiative to analyse our distribution model and suggest ways it could be made more efficient and cost-effective. Both projects provided invaluable guidance and insight to the charity. Magic Breakfast is now taking the findings of the distribution model project forward to implement changes which will ultimately mean that we can reach more schoolchildren at risk of morning hunger.

Not only that, but Morgan Stanley employees have got involved in packing food to distribute to children over the Christmas holidays, volunteered at our breakfast holiday clubs to support developing children’s literacy and social skills, and fundraised for Magic Breakfast in their offices.

We’re thrilled that Morgan Stanley is taking its charity support even further and this year offered our employees places in its bespoke training programmes. From line management to project management, Magic Breakfast employees have the opportunity to gain extra accreditations and will benefit from some of the best training around, thanks to Morgan Stanley.

“We’ve been proud to partner with Magic Breakfast for over ten years, supporting vulnerable children in Tower Hamlets and Glasgow to ensure they are not too hungry to learn.”
