Magic Breakfast is dedicated to ensuring no child or young person is too hungry to learn, and we want to empower schools to deliver for their pupils; at a time of extreme difficulty. Across England and Scotland school leaders are given the authority to deploy Pupil Premium and Pupil Equity Funding, respectively.

These funding streams, designed to help close the attainment gap, can be utilised for hunger focused and barrier free breakfast provision. Our new paper, Funding A Brighter Future, is designed to support schools to create and deploy their own breakfast provisions.

We do not see existing funding streams, such as those in this paper, as sustainable, but without Government action believe that any opportunity to reduce morning hunger is worth championing. That’s why, as well as offering funding suggestions under the existing paradigm, we continue to campaign to push for promises to become policy in Scotland and for new commitments in England.
