Children from Surrey Square Primary had a fantastic time last week at an Amazon Pop Up event in Waterloo to mark Black Friday, with the comedian, tv presenter and most importantly, children’s author David Baddiel.  One child described it as ‘the best day ever!’

Pupils were given breakfast on arrival and were then very excited to meet David. Lots of the children were familiar with his books and so David discussed ‘The Parent Agency’ with them, a book that many of them had enjoyed. The story is about being able to choose your own parents, so that generated some lively debate and some interesting suggestions which included Nicki Minaj and Drake, or Cardi B and Lionel Messi!

David then read from his new book ‘The Taylor Turbochaser’ and he had no trouble holding the children’s full attention. There followed another interesting discussion, this time about inventions. Each child was given a copy of the book and they queued up for David to sign them. As you can see, they were delighted.

A magician then entertained the children and they were totally mesmerised by some very clever tricks. Thank you to Amazon for a fantastic morning and to David for delighting everyone and especially to the beautifully behaved and very engaged Surrey Square children.

 A Magic Breakfast indeed.
