Here at Magic Breakfast we’re enjoying the change of pace that comes with the summer holidays; a lot of our Schools team are enjoying a well-earned break; Parliament’s not sitting during their summer recess; in England, the school holidays are in full swing while in Scotland children, young people, parents and caregivers are already prepping for the new academic year!  We’re already excitedly looking forward to a busy new academic year but before we draw a line under another year, we wanted to take this opportunity to pause and reflect on all we have achieved at Magic Breakfast over the last year alongside our fantastic partners who have really gone above and beyond!

Here’s a quick round up of a few of our wins from this year...

  • Despite a rocketing cost-of-living crisis, our supporters never stopped believing in the importance of fuelling children’s potential. Over 23,500 donations have been made to fund breakfast this year!
  • Our fiery fundraisers hiked, walked and ran a sizzling 471 miles this year... talk about working up a sweat!
  • 9,000 children, young people and parents shared their thoughts on the importance of breakfast with us in our latest report What’s For Breakfast?
  • Hundreds of people - school staff, Youth Campaigners and individuals alike - joined our call to UK leaders to put breakfast on the table in our Scottish campaign Breakfast Can’t Wait!

We couldn’t have done any of this work without the support from our incredible partners. Children and young people are at the heart of everything we do, and we’re privileged to work with so many companies that share our vision that one day no child or young person in the UK is too hungry to learn. But what have our partners done for us this year?

Dishoom

We held our first Dishoom Takeover since the pandemic! Children from local Magic Breakfast schools “took over” Dishoom’s London Kings Cross and Birmingham restaurants for a morning of breakfast naans, learning about breakfasts from around the world and even helping out in the kitchen whipping up their very own rotis! As you can see from the images below, it seems as though they had a lot of fun! Thank you Dishoom, what an experience!

Beauty Pie

Beauty Pie have gone above and beyond for us! They’ve raised enough through sale donations this year to fund over 50,000 brekkies for children and young people! How incredible is that? The impact this donation will have is huge.

Pure

Employees from Pure got moving and completed the Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge in May. Not only is this a huge accomplishment in itself, but they raised a brilliant £3,816 for Magic Breakfast! This seemed like such a fun bonding experience for colleagues! If you’re interested in doing something similar, take a look at our upcoming challenge events.

Permira

Permira employees have donated 172 hours of their time over the past year in pro bono and volunteering support.Harriet and Priya at Permira have spent the last year running the Magic Reading Programme in years 5 and 6. They have helped children understand the value of reading by supporting the children to set up book fairs, reading challenges and book swaps!

Not only this, but they have also transformed the children into true Reading Champions and the children are now encouraging their classmates to pick up a book! The work they have completed is incredibly impactful - thank you!

Noble Foods

We’re very egg-cited that thanks to our new partner Noble Foods, we’ve been trialling eggs on the menu in our partner schools for the first time – a protein-rich option to fuel big brains! Watch this space!

G- Research

This year, G-Research got creative! During their Make a Difference Month in November, they raised enough money to fund over 130,000 breakfasts by hosting lots of fundraising events including bake sales, a quiz, and raffles.  This is incredible, the difference G-research have helped make to children's lives is astronomical!

Weetabix

Weetabix have been cerealsly incredible to us in the last year... they have supplied a whopping 1.8 million bowls of cereal! That’s a breakfast for every single mile to the Moon and back again… over 3 times! Thank you, Weetabix, for joining us in the fight to end child morning hunger!

Warburtons

Warburtons have gone to infinity and beyond for us this year! They have donated 1.1 million breakfasts this year. To put this into context... that’s a breakfast for every mile it would take to travel around the world 44 times! Thank you for providing fuel to power children’s full potential... Warburtons, you're stellar.

Quaker

We’ve been incredibly privileged to have Quaker join us on our journey to feed hungry schoolchildren. Up to 3 million breakfast bowls pledged by Quaker Oats fuelled the learning of thousands of children across the UK! ...that's a breakfast for every single year we would need to travel out of our galaxy  and WELL into a new one! Talk about rocketing to new horizons!

Fuel For Success

We recently wrapped up our latest Fuel For Success campaign! Thank you to our wonderful restaurant partners, D&D London, Hawksmoor and Daisy Green Collection for helping children reach for the stars by raising over £90,000! That’s over 300,000 brekkies! You’re all out of this world!

What a year! As always, thank you to our super(nova) partners and everyone else who has joined us in  helping children shoot for the stars. We already can’t wait to see what we achieve together next year... to infinity and beyond!
