About Magic News & Blog Back to school in Scotland 20 August 2018 Scottish children are heading back to school this week and we are delighted to say that more of them will have the opportunity to enjoy a Magic Breakfast. When we launched in Scotland in March this year, we started with 13 schools, in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Fife and North Ayrshire, providing a nutritious school breakfast to approximately 400 pupils. Already that number has risen to 24 schools and over 900 pupils. Magic Breakfasts are now being enjoyed in schools in Glasgow, Edinburgh, North Ayrshire, Fife and Inverclyde. Tracy Freeman, Regional Lead in Scotland, says: “It is such a simple solution to so many problems. In Scotland we are really trying to close the poverty related attainment gap. This has got to be the first crucial step in helping to achieve that. It is not just about giving children healthy breakfast food that will give them energy to learn all morning, it is great to see children socialising with their peers and their teachers too, having conversations that they wouldn’t normally have, so breaking down barriers.” We are reaching out to more schools, particularly in underprivileged areas which fit our criteria. If you know of a school in North Lanarkshire, East Ayrshire, West Dunbartonshire, Falkirk or Renfrewshire which could benefit from free, healthy breakfast food and expert support do encourage them to get in touch.
